Do or Die!

According to Dr. Bergenstal of the International Diabetes Center at Park Nicollet in Minneapolis, MN, "Diabetes is a serious condition.  We often don't quite think about it quite that way."  Recent research of over 820, 900 people from nearly 100 studies from Europe and North America and published in the New England Journal of Medicine has shown that a 50-year-old with diabetes dies six years sooner than someone without the disease.

Diabetes is the body's inabaility to make enough insulin or cannot use what it does make to regulate blood sugar.  High blood sugar can damage nerves and blood vessels and is a major cause of heart disease.  Exactly how diabetes raises your risk for aquiring certain types of cancer or kidney disease isn't clear, but diabetes is known to suppress the immune system.

The results are "another reason to try to normalize blood glucose in people who have diabetes" through diet, exercise and medication, said Dr. Alvin Powers, a diabetes specialist at Vanderbilt University.

Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the US.  If you are not sure what your glucose levels are we have the equipment at our facility to measure it.  Don't be a statistic.  Know where you stand before its too late.  We have helped many reverse their Type II diabetes.  We can help you too!

I love Spring! Does your muffin top?

This is a sign that we have outside of our facility in Duluth.  Do any of these touch a chord with you?  How about the 5th one down?  We have been getting a few comments lately about it and that was my sole intent.  Marketing is about finding the right verbage that catches someones attention.

How has the green tea affected your muffin?  Is it shrinking?  Can you see your shoes finally?  I bet not.  Unfortunately there is no magic pill, although the informercials plastered on TV want you to think there is.  What do you notice about the people in the commercials?  99% are under 30 and in great shape.  I want to take the average American and put them in the video and see what happens, especially the "Insane" program that incorporates high intensity training for 30 minutes.  They better start calling 911.

Spring is finally here and its the best time to get outside.  Just by walking an additional 10 minutes a day you will burn an extra 300-400 calories per week.  Imagine if you doubled that-20 minutes instead!!!  The key to seeing and feeling results is consistency.  If you dont believe that call me.  If you are ready to get started we have an INCREDIBLE deal at www.livingsocial.com  Check it out.  It will change your life forever!

Until next week.

PS Tomorrow night make it a point to look at the moon.  You will be amazed.

Do you see a resemblance?  Do your favorite snacks look like that scrumptious muffin?  If you answered yes I am here to help.  Oh the dreaded muffin top.  What should I do?  Drink green tea like the commercial on TV or buy the latest and greatest ab roller for just 3 simple payments of $19.95?  I am here to tell you that it is not that easy.  The muffin that is rolling over your belt and making it difficult to see your shoes is FAT!  And more than likely visceral fat-the kind that surrounds your organs and leads to heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers.

If your desire is to rid yourself of that look than you must consider improving your eating habits........period!!!  I have benn helping thousands of people improve their health since 1990 and I know what it takes.  Over 75% of your goals is based on sound nutritional habits-not some crazy diet.  Goto my company's website at
www.enhancinghealthinc.com and look at our testimonials.  They did it and so can you.  I can guarantee you that if you schedule an appt. with me I can rid you of that glob once and for all.

"Many things will catch your eye, but only a few things will catch your heart......pursue those."  Anonymous

Life is so short and so precious.  Just ask someone from Japan. What a horrible natural disaster.  A 30 ft.Tsunami and 8.9 earthquake devastated many areas on Japan's eastern coast.  We can only pray for those touched by this event.

Don't wait for tomorrow because tomorrow may never come.  Pursue what is important to you and do not give up.  Give it a 110%.  Failure falls upon those that don't even try.  Since 1996, Enhancing Health has been a company with great potential.  There have been many times that I wanted to throw in the towel and move on, but I just COULD NOT QUIT!  We are on the verge of having something great with our company and we continue to help so many people improve their health.  If losing weight or toning up or getting off your medications or playing with your grandchildren without back pain is important to you-do something about it!  Don't wait till tomorrow because tomorrow may never come!
We are here to help.

Enjoy this weekends beautiful weather and give someone close to you a big hug.  Live Well. Love Life.

Get off your Gluteus Maximus! unless your cycling.

Your probably thinking there is a reoccuring theme here.  Well there is.  But you must remember that one intent of my blogging is to educate you.  Your gluteus maximus is the largest of the gluteal muscles and one of the strongest muscles in the humanbody. It inserts at the iliotibial band and the gluteal tuberosity of the femur. Its action is to extend and to laterally rotate the hip, and also to extend the trunk.

Wow, that is a mouthful.  In other words it is the muscle that you are probably sitting on right now.  This past Sunday was a cold and windy day.  It would have been much easier and a lot more pleasant to stay in doors and watch tv, but I am on a mission.  I am training for the Tour de Cure (a 62 mile bike ride) to raise money for diabetes. Sponsorship is always welcomed.  I have found it to be a lot easier to achieve improved health when you have a goal set.  Just like anything, goal setting is the key to success.  So instead of relaxcing on Sunday I rode 18 miles, burned 850 calories and felt great.  I'm not asking you to jump on your bike in the garage, but set a goal of some type.  If your not sure how I can help!

My buddy Bruce. D. is an avid cyclist.  He puts in hundreds of miles a month and as you can see he looks GREAT!.  My wife and I introduced Bruce to our medical nutrition program, Take Shape for Life, because he had a goal.  He achieved many of his goals and according to Bruce, "I wanted to ride better so my focus was to get my weight under control for my health, my mind and my body."  As you can see it looks like he has.

One final thought.  My wife Lisa inspires me daily with her thoughts and words and I thank her dearly.  She showed me a book called Successories. Every Tuesday I am going to give you a thought-here you go: "Behind me is infinite power, before me is endless possibility, around me is boundless opportunity, why should I fear?"

Have a great day!

Man-up and Move, cont.

So, are you still sitting on your butt or have you made a decision to start doing something?  I am sitting here typing this latest post and I am sitting on my butt and it's not fun.  I can't imagine staying in this postion for hours!  Your body has over 600 muscles and 206 bones that need to be stimulated in some form or fashion.  Did you know if you add just one pound of muscle your metabolism increases 50 calories.  So if you gain 2 lbs. of muscle your body is burning up an additional 100 calories 24/7.  Man-up and move!

I don't want you to think of exercising because the first thing you think of is gym class in the 5th grade.  Wearing those ugly shorts, trying to do one push-up or one pull-up and everybody laughing at you while your about to split your pants.  I don't want you to join the closest gym and start running on the treadmill.  You are destined to fail.  I want you to think of activity.  Instead of asking your son to grab a cold one out of the fridge while you watch the latest Jerry Springer, instead you get up and walk to the fridge and grab a cold glass of ice water.  By doing so you probably burned an extra 20 calories.  Its not much, but its a start.

Get moving, have a great weekend and see you on Tuesday.

Live Well. Love Life.

Man-Up and Move!

It is time to make a decision.  Are you going to continue to make excuses why you keep getting heavier?  that your clother are no longer fitting? that you are winded going up a flight of stairs? or that you cant play with your grandchildren because your back hurts?  Man-up and MOVE!!  Your body was created primarily for one thing and that is to move.  Once you stop moving your body starts to decline both mentally and physically.  Your joints start to ache and you can no longer remember things from the day before.  Sound familiar?

My goal for blogging is to educate people on the benefits of a health lifestyle.  Not necessarily exercise, but more so activity.  Not necesarily on dieting, but making healthy choices-both at the kitchen table and the grocery isle.

Getting healthy is not rocket science.  Its making small changes in your lifestyle that lead to BIG changes in your life.

Make that decision NOW.  Man-up and Move.  I am going to help you get started.

See you Firday,
Steve
