Achieving Optimal Health-are you interested?

Since 1996, I have been helping people improve their health.  With over 24 years of experience in the health and wellness industry and countless testimonials from satisfied clients (www.enhancinghealthinc.com) I have a pretty good grasp on what it takes to improve someones health.  When someone comes to me for the first time and is ready to make a change I get so excited because I know I am going to make a difference in their lives-hopefully.  If the client is ready mentally to make a change then I can help them.  If they are not ready I know through experience that they will last for a few weeks or months and then I will never see them again.  Getting past the mental barrier is 90% of the game. The rest is easy!!!

The first step is scheduling a fitness and health assessment to give both of us an idea of your current health and to establish some short term and long term goals.  From there I instruct you on the difference of activity and exercise.  Yes, there is a difference.  Activity is moving the body more than it is accustomed to.  Such as parking the car a little farther from your office or walking your dog as opposed to letting him run loose in the back yard.  Exercise on the other hand is very specific, such as walk for 30 minutes, do 10 pushups 3 days per week and stretch daily.  In the beginning, exercise can be a daunting task and often overwhelming.  Activity on the other hand is very achievable and a great way to start. A great way to track your activity is to wear a pedometer ($10-$15 investment).  According to the American Medical Association, the average user see's an increase of more than 2,100 steps per day when using a pedomater

Are you ready to make a change?  Do you want more energy and vitality?  Do you want to get out of pain and enjoy life?  What are your goals?  Lets get started!!!

We just celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary in one of our favorite cities-Charleston, SC.  Although we did not stay at our favorite BB (twomeetingstreet.com) we did have the good fortune of being alone together.  A rarity these days.  Many of you do not know this, but Lisa was my first personal training client.  I had just finished college and she was in massage therapy school.  We were both very intrigued about the body and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.  We quizzed each other often and sometimes argued about specific muscles, tendons and ligaments.  Sounds rather boring, but to us it was fun.

Over the years Lisa has been my "Rock."  Starting and running a business is a daunting task and extremely stressful.  Without her insight and determination, Enhancing Health would not be where it is today.  I owe her so much and hopefully some day I will be able to return the favor.

We are so fortunate to not only have a beautiful, healthy daughter, who is about to become a teenager, but we also have our health.  Many of us take for granted  good health and don't realize how important it is until we are sick.  Lisa and I are health coaches and have been placed on this earth to help others by educating them on the importance of a healthy lifestyle.  Knowing what your mission in life is can be a wonderful thing.  Although it might not be glamorous, nor give us the ability to retire early, we do have the extreme satisfaction of helping people live healthier and happier lives.  What could be better than that?!

Today in church, Dr. Bill Self preached on the importance of living every minute to the fullest as though it was your last.  Lisa went one step further and told me that you must live with a purpose as well.  We know our purpose-do you??  Thank you Lisa for all your wisdom and insight.  You are wife who I love dearly, but you are also my best friend!

Proper nutrition and consistent fitness are very important to your health but so are stable finances.  As a business owner I haven't experienced what "stable" means yet, but these following principles should help:
1.  I will live within my means
2.  I will maximize my income potential through education and training
3.  I will effectively manage my budget, credit, debt, and tax obligations
4.  I will save at least 10% of my income
5.  I will use homeownership as a foundation for building wealth
6.  I will devise an investment plan for my retirement needs and children's education
7.  I will ensure that my entire family adheres to sensible money management principles
8.  I will support the creation and growth of small businesses
9.  I will guarantee my wealth is passed on to future generations through proper insurance and estate planning
10.  I will strengthen my community through philanthropy.

Optimal health means healthy mind, healthy body and healthy finances.  If you need help with any of these I know the professionals who can help.  Just ask.
Stay cool this weekend-its a scorcher!!
