As Kate said, "When I reached a big birthday milestone I realized I’d better address my physical fitness. My hobby is training my dogs for AKC obedience competitions so I have to be able to keep up with active, athletic Golden Retrievers. This requires balance, strength and flexibility.
After flunking a fitness evaluation at my doctor’s office I signed up to train with Steve Collett at Enhancing Health twice a week. Many months later I started the Take Shape For Life nutrition program as well. Now I am stronger, more agile and 26 pounds lighter and 10% leaner. This leads to smaller blue jeans! More importantly; I have found that I’m more confident of my physical abilities.
Here are two of my favorite accomplishments. One day fairly early into my training I realized I was running down the stairs. When was the last time you did that? Also, it still amazes me that 10 minutes on the elliptical machine isn’t all that difficult when 2 minutes used to leave me sweating and breathless with legs of rubber.
Of course I’m not actually getting any younger but I do feel as if I inhabit a younger more capable body. Feeling that I look darn good is fun too. Thanks, Steve!
